About EffectiveDiscussions

By helping people and organizations communicate better, we'd like to:

  • Help companies grow and create more jobs. Especially in developing countries.

  • Contribute to a world built of peace, understanding and tolerance. With free speech, rights of minorities, equality between all groups. Clean air, clean water. Free university education & health care for everyone.

We'll do this, by giving companies, non-profits, politicians & citizens, and others, a better discussion system that saves time and helps you make good decisions. So you can get the right stuff done, sooner.

My name is Kaj Magnus Lindberg, and I'm the one who is developing this software. I live in Sweden Norway Sweden Berlin Europe. In the past, I studied maths and physics, and then I spent many years working with C++, until I quit my job, to build EffectiveDiscussions. Now I have a job again and EffectiveDiscussions is a part time project, hmm, or, well, more like full time.

You can contact us (me) here.

If you find a security issue, please send an email to support at ed.community. But don't create any public GitHub issue or post to this forum, because if you do that, bad people might find out about the security issue, before it has been fixed.

I'm copying some ideas from Discourse, and sometimes look at its database structure, HTTP requests, and avatar pixel width. Discourse is forum software.

EffectiveDiscussions is free and open source (AGPL), read more here. (Our hosting service costs money though.)

The logo, in the upper left corner, is a white rose with a combined ED inside (for EffectiveDiscussions). The white rose is in memory of the White Rose. The White Rose was a group of students that became known for an anonymous leaflet campaign, in Germany 1942–43, that called for opposition to the Nazi regime. This was a dangerous undertake, and it's worth remembering, alongside with all other similar initiatives in all ages and all over the world, nowadays when it's possible to campaign for freedom and human rights, over the internet.
